Test Principle:
α-hydroxybutyrate dehydrogenase ( α-HBDH;EC.1.1.1.27 ), which is widely present in the cytoplasm of various tissue cells in the human body, with the highest content in myocardial tissue. Its content determination can be used to evaluate myocardial infarction, hepatitis, macroglobulinemia, alcoholic liver disease, diabetic nephropathy and other diseases.

Under the catalysis of α-hydroxybutyrate dehydrogenase, α-hydroxybutyrate is produced by α-ketobutyrate and reduced coenzyme I (NADH), and NADH is oxidized to oxidized coenzyme I (NAD+). The oxidation rate of NADH is proportional to the activity of α-HBDH in the sample. By monitoring the rate of decrease in absorbance at 340 nm, the activity of α-HBDH in the sample can be calculated.
