Test Principle:
β-glucosidase ( β-GC, EC 3.2.1.21 ) is a cellulose hydrolase that catalyzes the hydrolysis of non-reducing β-D-glycosidic bonds at the end and releases glucose and corresponding ligands. β-GC inhibitors can improve blood glucose by delaying the decomposition rate of carbohydrates, delaying the release of glucose in the intestine, reducing postprandial blood glucose levels, and reducing the burden on islet cells.
β-GC decomposes p-nitrophenyl-β-D-glucopyranoside to produce p-nitrophenol, which has a maximum absorption peak at 400 nm. This kit calculates the inhibitory activity of β-GC inhibitors by measuring the rate of increase in absorbance.
