Test Principle:
AKP / ALP ( Alkaline Phosphatase ) is a zinc-containing glycoprotease that hydrolyzes various natural and synthetic phospholipid monoesters in an alkaline environment. AKP / ALP is widely distributed in various organs of the human body, mainly in the liver.
In alkaline environment, AKP / ALP catalyzes the formation of free phenol from disodium phenyl phosphate. Phenol reacts with 4-aminoantipyrine and potassium ferricyanide to form red quinone derivative, which has characteristic light absorption at 510 nm. AKP activity is calculated by measuring the rate of increase in absorbance at 510 nm.
