Product Description

L-Tyrosine is a non-essential amino acid for humans, as the body can synthesize it endogenously. It is a core precursor for the synthesis of neurotransmitters such as dopamine, norepinephrine, and epinephrine. Under the catalysis of Tyrosine hydroxylase, L-Tyrosine participates in neurotransmitter metabolism. It also serves as a structural component in the synthesis of thyroid hormones.

The OPA derivatization method effectively enhances the fluorescent properties of L-Tyrosine, thereby enabling more sensitive detection. This kit employs a pre-column derivatization method: under weakly alkaline conditions, OPA (o-phthalaldehyde) and 3-MPA (3-mercaptopropionic acid) specifically react with the amino group of L-Tyrosine to form fluorescent derivatives. Upon excitation with ultraviolet light, these derivatives emit fluorescence at a longer wavelength than the excitation light. The fluorescence intensity is proportional to the L-Tyrosine concentration with a high response, making this method suitable for automated batch analysis by HPLC. This kit is specifically designed for the rapid and efficient extraction and quantification of L-Tyrosine in plant samples.

Instruments and Reagents Required for the Assay

High-performance liquid chromatograph (HPLC) equipped with a C18 column (4.6 × 250 mm, water tolerance ≥95%) and a fluorescence detector (FLD); ultrasonic cleaner; vortex mixer; electronic balance; low-temperature high-speed centrifuge (4°C, 10,000 r/min); mortar/homogenizer; adjustable pipettes; syringe; organic membrane filter; aqueous membrane filter; chromatographic-grade methanol, ethanol, and acetonitrile, etc.
