Test Principle:Glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px/GPX) is an important peroxidase that widely exists in the body. GPX can be divided into two categories according to the different active centers of the enzyme, one with selenocysteine as the active center, and the other with cysteine as the active center. The former exists in most organisms. GPX can remove hydrogen peroxide and lipid peroxide produced in organisms, and reduce the toxic effects of oxidation products on the body. It is an important part of the antioxidant system in organisms. Glutathione peroxidase catalyzes the reaction of GSH and peroxides to generate oxidized glutathione (GSSG). GSSG reacts with NADPH to generate GSH under the action of glutathione reductase (GR). NADPH has a characteristic absorption peak at 340 nm. The rate of decrease in absorbance value of the reaction system is linearly related to glutathione peroxidase activity. The kit uses organic peroxides as substrates. By measuring the consumption of NADPH per unit time, the sum of the activities of the two types of GPX is calculated.
