Test Principle:Free fatty acids (FFAs) refer to non-esterified fatty acids. In serum , FFAs primarily serve as intermediate products of fat metabolism and are crucial metabolic substrates for cellular energy metabolism , providing energy for organs such as the heart , liver , and skeletal muscle. Free fatty acid testing holds significant clinical importance , as it can be used to assess an organism’s metabolic state and disease risk. This assay kit is suitable for determining free fatty acids in animal tissues , plant tissues , edible oils , and other samples.Free fatty acids in the sample dissolve in hydrocarbon solvents and react with a pyridine-copper ion colorimetric solution to form copper soap complexes. These complexes exhibit a characteristic absorption peak at 710 nm , enabling the calculation of FFA content.
