Test Principle:Free Fatty Acids (FFA) refer to non-esterified fatty acids. The lipids present in the human body can be roughly classified into three types: cholesterol , phospholipids , etc. Free fatty acids are one of the substances produced by the decomposition of neutral fats. When the energy source for muscle activity - glycogen - is depleted , adipose tissue breaks down neutral fats into free fatty acids to serve as an energy source. High levels of free fatty acids , leading to hyperfree fatty acidemia , are associated with the occurrence and development of diseases such as metabolic syndrome , atherosclerosis , acute coronary syndrome , and heart failure.
