Test Principle:
Oxygen free radicals act on unsaturated fatty acids of lipids to form lipid peroxides ;the latter is gradually decomposed into a series of complex compounds, in which malondialdehyde ( MDA ) is one of the main products of oxidative stress. The level of lipid oxidation can be detected by detecting the level of MDA.

The kit is based on the TBARS method : MDA can be condensed with thiobarbituric acid ( TBA ) under acidic and high temperature conditions to form a brownish red 3,5,5-trimethyloxazole-2,4-dione. The fluorescence intensity at the excitation wavelength of 530 nm and the emission wavelength of 560 nm is proportional to the MDA content. The MDA content of the sample can be calculated by measuring the fluorescence intensity of the substance.
