Test Principle:
The measurement of Total Oxidant Status (TOS) is of great significance for evaluating the effects of oxidative stress on organisms. High TOS levels may be associated with the occurrence and development of many diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer, neurodegenerative diseases and so on. By monitoring TOS, we can understand the oxidative stress state of organisms and provide an important basis for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases.

Under acidic conditions, Fe2+ is oxidized to Fe3+ by the oxidation substance existing in the sample, and xylenol orange reacts with Fe3+ to form a red complex. The complex has a maximum absorption peak at 560 nm, and the TOS content of the sample can be calculated by measuring its absorption value.
