Acetoacetate is the simplest β-keto acid and can be obtained by hydrolysis of ethyl acetoacetate. The detection principle of this kit is that the urine acetoacetate and ferric chloride form acetoacetate iron, which is red ocher. It is mainly used for qualitative detection of the content of acetoacetate in human and animal urine. After excessive fatty acid metabolism, diabetes, hunger, acute ethanol poisoning, etc. will increase the content of acetoacetate.
